Uneven Shoulders
One shoulder may appear higher than the other due to an abnormal spinal curve, commonly found in scoliosis. This misalignment can become more noticeable when standing with arms relaxed by the sides.
Asymmetrical Waist
One side of the waist may curve more than the other, which is caused by the spine’s lateral curvature. This can result in an uneven appearance of the torso as the spine tilts or rotates.
Uneven Hips
One hip may sit higher than the other, often leading to pelvic imbalance. This can occur due to spinal misalignment or leg length discrepancies, contributing to postural issues and discomfort.
Protruding Shoulder Blade
One shoulder blade may stick out more than the other, known as "winged scapula." This is caused by muscle imbalances around the shoulder blade, often associated with spinal curvature like scoliosis.
Head Misalignment
The head may not sit centered over the pelvis, indicating a potential spinal misalignment. This can result in poor posture, neck strain, and discomfort due to an improper alignment between the head, spine, and pelvis.
Uneven Clothing Fit
Clothing may hang unevenly or fit improperly due to uneven shoulders or hips. Asymmetry caused by scoliosis can affect how garments fit, especially those that are form-fitting or tailored.
Rib Cage Asymmetry
In severe cases, a rotational curve in the spine may cause one side of the rib cage to stick out more than the other. This is often visible when bending forward and is a characteristic sign of advanced scoliosis. It may also lead to breathing difficulties or discomfort.
